Give access to quality healthcare to Pakistanis in need

The healthcare system in Pakistan faces numerous challenges, including limited funding, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of healthcare professionals. These challenges contribute to poor health outcomes and limited access to healthcare services for many Pakistanis.

The Aga Khan University Hospital has implemented the The Patients’ Behbud Society for AKUH (PBS) to assist in tackling some of these issues.

How is Aga Khan University Hospital and IDRF helping?

The Patients’ Behbud Society for AKUH is an independent, charitable society responsible for collecting and disbursing zakat to eligible patients who visit the Aga Khan University Hospital, its secondary hospitals, and its clinical laboratories.

Since its inception, the Society has disbursed almost PKR 2.5 billion to support over 93,000 patient visits for those in need of urgent, quality care for life saving surgeries and procedures.

Our Shariah Advisors ensure that every penny is spent on treatment for deserving patients. All donations received by PBS go toward patient care, with no amount used for administrative or other expenses..
