After nearly 4 years of drought, over 37 million people are facing a catastrophic hunger crisis. The people of East Africa continue to bear the brunt of the climate crisis, coupled with conflict, displacement, and soaring food prices. As they face one calamity after another, they are in urgent need of support from the global community.

These cascading crises have resulted in large-scale devastation across the region — people have lost homes, livelihoods, and continue to wander in search of food and water, unable to provide for their loved ones. Families are struggling to survive, with millions living in makeshift shelters, exposed to the elements and vulnerable to the spread of disease.
At IDRF, we are working tirelessly to contain the hunger crisis in East Africa — but we cannot do it alone.
We are currently active in Kenya, Uganda, Somalia and Sudan, where we are:
Providing monthly food parcels, sufficient for a family of 7 to rely on comfortably
Providing cash interventions, empowering families to purchase their own food supplies when possible
Creating sustainable energy solutions in Uganda with the use of bio waste, allowing families access to cooking gas
