The Marcelo Puente Tribute Concert stands proudly in tribute to Marcelo’s music, work, and contributions to his community, locally and globally. Marcelo was deeply committed to justice through the truth of the music he composed and played with his fellow musicians; all were Compañeros. And the rest of us got to listen and enjoy.
The concert organizers, Marcelo’s family and friends, want to support people and families in Gaza with the proceeds from the event and give everyone, whether or not they can attend, an opportunity to contribute more directly to Gaza. We have partnered with International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF), a registered charity in Canada. IDRF staff will attend to accept donations. Tax-deductible receipts will be issued.
In Gaza, families are fighting to survive. IDRF is still there, every single day.
The entire population of Gaza, over 2.2 million people, now requires urgent humanitarian assistance. Essential supplies like food, clean water, medicine, and fuel remain scarce, and the need grows with every passing month.
Water networks have been decimated, with per capita water availability dropping by 97%. Families are left without safe water for drinking, cooking, or sanitation. Hospitals and shelters are overwhelmed, and children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities are among the most at risk.
This is more than a crisis of supplies. It is the daily struggle to hold onto safety, health, and dignity in the face of unimaginable loss.
Despite restricted access and extraordinary challenges, IDRF continues to deliver life-saving aid across Gaza, including more than 1.4 million litres of clean water every single day.
