The Situation

Food insecurity is at an all time high in the Sahel Region. In just two years, food insecurity has tripled in the region, with over 29 million people at risk.

More than 811,000 people in the Sahel Region are facing emergency levels of food insecurity and need urgent assistance, an eightfold increase since 2019.

In the aftermath of the pandemic, food insecurity has increased alarmingly due to a wide range of factors, including market closures, decreases in agricultural production, disrupted economic activities, job losses, and severe disruptions in supply chains.
