The Situation

According to the latest Humanitarian Bulletin on Somalia by UNOCHA, approximately 4.1 million people are food insecure as of February 2020 (UNOCHA, 2020).

The Situation

  • 560,000 people impacted by severe flooding in Sudan
  • 55, 000 homes destroyed and 56,000 more damaged
  • Nationwide state of emergency
  • In Niger 300, 000 people, 30,000 homes and thousands of hectares of farmland devastated by flooding
  • Over 43,000 Ethiopian refugees have fled into Sudan for their safety and security. The Tigray region in Sudan already hosts over 100,000 refugees from Eritrea.

We have shifted our focus to support the emergency needs of thousands of newly displaced Ethiopian refugees along the Sudan Border. Our relief efforts including providing water, sanitation, hygiene, and food security programs to these displaced refugees.

Continuous rain has caused massive flooding in the Karachi area. IDRF is providing food and hygiene kits to those affected.

The Situation

The most affected people have lost their homes, livelihoods and need immediate assistance in the form of food distributions as well as essential hygiene items that will keep them healthy and prevent the spread of communicable diseases such as COVID-19.

Flooding in both countries has caused widespread population displacements with urgent humanitarian aid required in the areas of food, water, sanitation and hygiene services, and temporary shelter support.

How you can help

In response, IDRF will be delivering food and hygiene items to those most affected. $75 will provide the most vulnerable with essential hygiene items, as well as enough food to last for one month. As IDRF is currently providing emergency hygiene and food supplies, we are assessing the needs for rehabilitation of shelter and sanitation in the slums of Karachi, Pakistan.

    Yemen is facing the world’s largest humanitarian crisis and is in desperate need of assistance. IDRF is on the ground providing essential life-saving humanitarian services to people living in makeshift internally displaced person camps throughout Yemen.

    After the Turkish “Peace Spring” operation in North Syria, approximately 160,000 people have left their homes in Rasul-Ayn and Tal-Abyad, moving South and Southwest for safety and shelter.

    The Situation

    The violence in Syria has caused millions to flee their homes, more than 6.6 million Syrians have been displaced to date.

    • There are those who have been internally displaced and those living in camps supported by the Turkish government.

    • These families have lost everything and are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

    • With winter around the corner, families in these camps are in need of warm clothes, tarps and gas for heating.
