The Prophet ﷺ taught that when a person dies, their good deeds end, except three: a continuing charity, knowledge that benefits others, or a child who prays for them.

A water well is one of the clearest examples of Sadaqah Jariyah, charity that keeps earning reward for as long as it keeps giving water.

The Global Water Crisis is one of the leading causes of death due to water-borne diseases.

Approximately two million people lose their lives each year to water-related diseases, with children, especially those under the age of five, being the most vulnerable to these illnesses.

Ensuring access to clean water and proper sanitation can significantly reduce child mortality rates and save countless lives.

A young child in a red shirt gleefully drinks water from a pipe, cupping hands to catch splashing droplets. The scene conveys joy and refreshment.

What makes Sadaqah Jariyah different

Most charity ends when the act ends. Sadaqah Jariyah is different: it’s a gift structured to keep giving. Scholars often point to three examples: a well, a tree, or knowledge passed on. A well checks every box. It serves for decades. It serves anyone who comes to it. And it requires no further effort from you once it’s built.

This is why water wells are often given in memory of a parent, as a gift on someone’s behalf, or simply as a way to build something that outlasts a single act of giving.

How our deep well
program works

1

Your donation is received and allocated to an existing or upcoming water well project.

2

We work with trusted local partners to identify a community in urgent need of clean water.

3

A site is selected where the well will provide the safest, most reliable drinking water.

4

The local team begins construction: digging, installing equipment, and preparing the site.

5

Water quality is tested to ensure it’s safe for consumption.

6

The completed well is officially handed over to the families it will serve. Community members receive hands-on training in well repair, maintenance, and hygiene practices such as handwashing and safe food handling.

7

After one year, donors receive a detailed report with updates and confirmation of the well’s completion.

Reward That Doesn’t
Stop When You Do

In many communities, women and children bear the burden of water scarcity, walking miles each day to fetch water.

Supporting our locally-led water well initiatives helps us drill new wells, repair broken ones, and provide training on maintenance and hygiene, making access to clean, safe water a daily reality. Your support empowers families, improves health, and eliminates the exhausting daily walk for water.

A well can serve a community for 20, 30, or even 40 years. Each time someone drinks, cooks, performs wudu, or waters their crops with that water, the reward continues to reach you, even years after you’ve given.

Building sustainable solutions

In regions facing severe water shortages, we construct deep, durable wells that access safe underground sources. Each well is designed to last, providing families with reliable water for years to come.

Empowering through education

We teach communities how to maintain their wells and promote better hygiene practices. This helps wells stay functional and water to remain safe, encouraging long-term self-reliance.

Occasionally restoring older wells

While our main focus is on building new wells, we also repair older, non-functional wells when possible, restoring a vital water source to communities in need.

For wells built in Pakistan, you can dedicate your well with a physical plaque installed at the site — included with your donation, at no extra cost. Simply share your intended inscription when you donate, and our team will be in touch to confirm the details before your well goes to programming.
Plaques are a meaningful way to honour a loved one, mark a milestone, or fulfil a Sadaqah Jariyah intention in someone’s name.
For all other regions, dedication plaques are not currently available.

Yes. A water well is one of the most commonly cited examples of Sadaqah Jariyah, ongoing charity that continues to benefit the giver as long as the well provides water to others.

This is only available in Pakistan right now, in the form of a physical plaque with inscription by the well on completion. Many donors build wells on behalf of a deceased parent or loved one as a form of ongoing charity for them.
