Against a backdrop of poverty and ongoing recovery challenges, rural communities in Pakistan are among the most affected. The scarcity of educational facilities, particularly for girls, furthers the cycle of poverty.

Seventeen-year-old Aliya lives in the remote village of Paras Bella in the Kaghan Valley in Pakistan. As the eldest of five, she supports her family while her father, a driver, struggles to make ends meet, especially with her mother battling hepatitis C and tuberculosis.

Despite these hardships, Aliya has excelled academically as a result of the free education program we provide where she discovered her passion for biology and dreams of becoming her village’s first female doctor.

With the guidance of her teachers, and her determination, Aliya is breaking barriers, aiming to bring much-needed healthcare to her community and inspire other girls across Pakistan.
