This Ramadan, we invite you to join us for our Vancouver Community Iftar, an evening of faith, togetherness, and purposeful giving.

As we break our fast together over a sit-down meal, we will take time to reflect on the true spirit of Ramadan, guided by generosity, compassion, and unity.

This iftar is an opportunity to turn our blessings into direct support for Gaza’s children. Funds raised from this event will help provide lifesaving assistance, including food, clean water, and essential humanitarian aid, to children facing unimaginable hardship. Together, we can transform a shared meal into relief, dignity, and hope for Gaza’s youngest and most vulnerable.

Families are thoughtfully catered for, with childminding for children 6-10 years old. A complete Ramadan night of worship, family, and impact. Secure your place at our Community Iftar and be part of an evening of barakah, connection, and compassion.

Sheikh Hacene Chebbani

Sheikh Hacene Chebbani

Sheikh Hacene Chebbani was born in Algeria and has lived in Canada since 1997. In 1993, he graduated in Sharīah (BA) from the Islamic University of Madinah. While there, he took the opportunity to study Aqīdah, Fiqh, and Hadīth with some of the notable scholars of that blessed city. Sheikh Hacene also completed a Master's in Islamic finance from the UK in 2012. In Canada, Sheikh Hacene has worked in Islamic schools teaching the Arabic language and Islamic studies, serving as the Sharīah consultant and head-teacher for over six years. He is currently an Imam in Calgary where he gives regular classes and counselling, leading the prayers for a diverse community.
Arwa Shurab

Arwa Shurab

Arwa is a leadership coach, community organizer, and founder of HERVOICE, a non-profit committed to advancing equity in leadership for women. She holds a Master’s degree in Global Leadership and is a certified and master-certified life coach. Arwa is also the co-founder of BC Muslim and Arab Professionals (BCMAP), where she works to amplify underrepresented voices and build inter-community solidarity. Her work is grounded in justice, equity, and inclusion, and she brings a trauma-informed, healing-centred approach to leadership and community building. Arwa lives in North Vancouver and is honoured to support the mission of the North Shore Restorative Justice Society as part of a diverse and committed team.
Nabil Ali

Nabil Ali

Nabil Ali is a seasoned nonprofit leader who has led major global humanitarian responses and built programs that strengthen community resilience and self-reliance. With expertise in strategic planning and operational optimization, he has led improvements across Finance, Marketing, HR, and Fundraising to enhance organizational performance and impact. A strong relationship-builder and strategist, Nabil spearheaded Guyana’s first national non-clinical mental health intervention program, a five-year resilience initiative launched in 2022 with support from Global Affairs Canada. He remains committed to creating sustainable change, fostering collaborative partnerships, and streamlining processes to deliver measurable impact.
Sheikh Dr. Faisal Ali

Sheikh Dr. Faisal Ali

Dr. Faisal Ali is the founder and executive director of Tilmaan Modern Academy in Jigjiga (K-12 modern school under construction). He has twenty-eight years of teaching and instructional leadership experiences, where he worked for 15 years as a teacher and 11 years as a school principal. Dr. Ali was a teacher at British Columbia Muslim School in Surrey, British Columbia from September 1992 to June 2007. Dr. Faisal Ali later joined Iqra School in Surrey, BC, Canada, as a principal from August 2007 to June 2016. In addition, Dr. Ali joined Sidra Qatar Academy, Doha, Qatar, (an IP school) as a secondary deputy principal from August 2016 to June 2018.
