About L2L
L2L is the International Development and Relief Foundation’s Canadian education program. Since 2002, we have supported over 40,000 students across the country to improve their grades and develop leadership skills through our free peer-tutoring programs. We train and certify high-achieving students to volunteer as tutors who mentor their peers struggling in school.
The role
L2L is hiring a Fundraiser to generate revenue for the organization. The role has two jobs:
- Open doors and close gifts. Use your existing relationships and build new ones, with foundations, corporations, government funders, and individual donors to secure funding for L2L’s programs.
- Write grants that win. Identify grant opportunities, write strong proposals, and manage reporting so funders renew and increase their support.
- Lead all marketing and communications work for L2L, which includes social media posts, emails, letters and fundraising campaigns.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
What you will do
- Build and manage a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government funders.
- Identify, qualify, and cultivate new prospects.
- Write grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funder reports.
- Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and pipeline status.
- Work with our Senior Program Manager to translate program needs into fundable proposals.
- Develop marketing campaigns, in collaboration with our Marketing team, to encourage giving and cultivate new donors
- Develop fundraising campaigns and lead full campaign execution
- Assist with securing content for social media posts and email newsletters
- Steward existing funders so they renew and grow their giving.
- Represent L2L at funder meetings, site visits, and select events.
Qualifications & Competencies
What we are looking for
- 3 to 5 years of fundraising experience, preferably in the charitable sector.
- A track record of personally securing five- and six-figure gifts or grants.
- Grants you have written and won, with examples you can speak to.
- Existing relationships with funders relevant to education, youth, equity, or community programming (a strong asset).
- Excellent writing. clear, persuasive, evidence-based prose.
- Self-direction. You do not wait to be told what to work on each week.
What we are not looking for
A title-collector or someone whose primary skill is showing up at events. We want a fundraiser who brings in revenue. We also do not want a pure grant writer with no relationship muscle, or a pure relationship person who cannot write a proposal. The role needs both.

Salary
$70,000-$75,000
