Jul 27, 2023

The International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF) is delighted to extend a heartfelt welcome to the esteemed Minister Ahmed Hussen as he assumes the role of the new Minister of International Development. We are excited about the opportunity to continue our fruitful collaboration with Minister Hussen as we work towards advancing our shared commitment to global development and humanitarian relief.

Minister Hussen’s track record as a dedicated supporter of IDRF in the past has been invaluable in making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable communities worldwide. His demonstrated commitment to global development and past support for IDRF positions him as a key ally in addressing the pressing needs of vulnerable communities worldwide.

The past few years have been particularly tough for communities around the world as they grappled with the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout these trying times, IDRF remained dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations, working tirelessly to provide critical assistance in healthcare, education, food security, and livelihoods. However, the scale of the challenges requires continued collaboration and increased engagement to ensure that no one is left behind.

In light of these ongoing challenges, IDRF welcomes Minister Ahmed Hussen’s appointment as the new Minister of International Development. We would also like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to the outgoing Minister, Harjit Sajjan, for his dedicated service and significant contributions during his tenure. Minister Sajjan’s leadership and commitment have been instrumental in advancing Canada’s humanitarian initiatives and development assistance, even amidst the challenges brought about by the pandemic.

As we move forward into this new chapter, IDRF stands ready to collaborate closely with Minister Hussen and the Canadian government to address the complex issues facing vulnerable populations worldwide. The road to recovery and progress requires sustained efforts, and IDRF reaffirms its commitment to playing an active role in bringing positive change to the lives of those in need.

The challenges presented in recent years underscore the importance of our shared mission, and we are eager to work collectively to build a more resilient and equitable world. Together with Minister Ahmed Hussen, IDRF, and our esteemed partners, we shall continue to strive towards empowering communities, alleviating poverty, and responding to emergencies with compassion and determination.

IDRF congratulates all cabinet members on their appointments and look forward to collaborating on all relevant portfolios.
