78 year-old Maria became the sole provider for her grandchildren when her daughter lost her only source of income. The extreme weather, poor soil, and lack of water access in her area made it extremely difficult for her family to survive. Her granddaughters would often walk over 3 hours each way just to find water, which was always never enough to meet their basic needs.
The construction of water wells in her constituency has given Maria immense relief, in addition to food assistance from IDRF. Her granddaughters will no longer walk treacherous distances to fulfill their basic needs, and her family will be provided for.
